SBA students were delighted to welcome Olympic Bronze medallist Chloe Rogers to the Academy on Tuesday 20th November.
Chloe gave an inspiring talk in Green House Assembly. She then took a practical hockey session on the astro turf with 24 pupils ranging from years 7 -11. Luckily the rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits; the students thoroughly enjoyed the session.
After the practical sessions our Gifted and Talented sports students attended a High Performance Academy workshop; where Chloe talked about her journey to becoming an Olympic athlete and students had the opportunity to ask her questions. Students commented very positively about the day:
'I am inspired to be just like her. She said that you might get upset and have disappointments along the way but you should never give up, just keep working hard.’
‘She was so inspirational and it made me want to be part of the Olympics in the future.’
'I learned that you need real determination to get far in sport, it was a motivating and inspirational morning.’
‘It was motivating and gave me an insight into what to do to get to the dream. She told us that at this age lots of sports people give up but we must keep going’
