Call Push Revive is launched at the Academy...

posted 23 May 2018, 00:53 by Katrina Heather
Last night saw the launch of our CPR drive to give as many students and non-first aid staff introduced to the deliverance of CPR. This follows the incident last term when Mrs Summers collapsed after school and required emergency CPR which was delivered by first aid trained staff at the Academy.

Mrs Cartmel, our well-being co-ordinator is leading the drive and aims to have the majority of the school introduced to CPR and basic life support before the end of the year. She said, "In Finland, it is taught as part of the curriculum and survival rates from cardiac arrest stand at 1/4, whereas here in the UK it is 1/10, it would be great if we could get everyone on site having a basic awareness of what CPR is".

Our next session is being held in the Lecture Theatre on the 21st June at 3pm. All students and staff are welcome to come along. It only takes 30 minutes.
