Consultation on the Proposed Published Admission Number (PAN) for Sandown Bay Academy

Consultation on the Proposed Published Admission Number (PAN)

for Sandown Bay Academy

The Proposal

The proposal is to reduce the PAN for the Secondary Provision at Sandown Bay Academy from 270 to 240 with effect from September 2017.

Rationale

Sandown Bay Academy has seen a decline in enrolment since 2011 when enrolment figures were at 2070. The current enrolment is 1256 students. The Year 7 intake for September 2016 is projected to be between 160 and 180 students. Demographic modelling indicates that future Year 7 intakes will also be in the region of 160-180. While we still have larger year groups in the upper levels of the school, and the capacity to accommodate larger year groups on our current site, it is sensible to reduce the PAN to 240.

Consultation timeline

The consultation period runs from December 15th 2015 to January 29th 2016.

If you would like to provide feedback on the proposed changes, please send your comments in writing to Ms. K. Tuck, PA to the Leadership Team, Sandown Bay Academy, The Fairway, Sandown, PO36 9JH.

Your views will be considered by the Management Board and AET Admissions. AET will take a formal decision with regard to whether to proceed with the proposal and reduce the PAN following due consideration of all feedback received. This will take place by February 20th 2016.
