We received a letter from Hampshire County Council this week following their visit on 6th January:

Dear Claire

Many thanks for your warm welcome to Sandown Bay Academy on 6th January. Please also thank the staff and pupils for making my visit so enjoyable. I'm particularly grateful as it was obviously an important day given the fact that you were giving out the mock GCSE results. I was really impressed with how you were using this to give feedback to pupils in order to prepare them for the real thing.

I admired your attention to detail and I would encourage you to continue to work together with all of the schools on the Island to improve standards. I am clear that you will make a great contribution to education on the Island and I wish you good luck in your headship. It was a real pleasure to see the children working purposefully and enjoying their lessons. Please congratulate them on the work they were doing.

Once again, my thanks to everyone who made this school visit such an enjoyable and encouraging experience for me and I wish you all at Sandown Bay Academy continued success in the future.

Steve Crocker

Interim Director of Children's Services.
