Live updates from the Indoor Rowing Championships

Our Indoor Rowing Team are at Barton Peveril college, Eastleigh competing in the Hampshire Indoor Rowing Championships. We will keep you updated this afternoon with results.




Year 11 Girls (6 min row)

Chloe Shepherd and Lochlan Kinnaird
1322m in island round

Heat 1:
1494. 1367. 1356. 1324. 1319.

Heat 2:

Year 11 boys

1 min in, Matt leading by 23m, Joe in 2nd
2 min in, Matt still holds the lead, Joe 34m behind him with 3rd place rower right on Joe's stern
3 min in, halfway,  Matt comfortably leading by 45m, Joe holding onto second place by 2metres
2 minutes remaining in the race, Matt looking comfortable ahead of the rest, Joe neck and neck with Tom from St Mary's - both fighting for 2nd place
Last minute, the strain is starting to show on Matt's face, he has a lead of 43 metres, he just needs to finish. Joe is in 3rd and needs to make up 8m


Year 10 Boys (5 min row)

Heat 1. Luke Wedderkopp
1 min in, Luke trailing the lead by 10 min, stroke rate slightly less than leader.
2 min in, sitting in  4th place, leader 12m in front
3 min in, trailing by 7m, he's closing the gap!!!
4 min in and Luke has moved into 2nd place
The final minute is so exciting... We're all shouting! Come on Luke.

Wow - he held on to second place.

Race commentary - heat 2
1 minute in,  Amber in second place, although neck and neck really between top 3 rowers. Hannah in 4th place
2 minutes in, amber in second place, Hannah 4th
3 minutes in, amber neck and neck in first place, joint with Mountbatten, Hannah moved into 3rd place.
4 minutes in, one minute remaining, amber has taken the lead by 10m, Hannah in 3rd
Final result in heat, amber 1205m, 1st, Hannah 3rd 1158. (2nd place got 1175)

Overall placings, Amber in 3rd place, Hannah in 6th.


Year 9 boys 4 min row

Our boys - Elys Norman and Joe Robertson

2 minutes in joe leading by 14m, Elys in 2nd place
3 minutes in joe just about holding the lead from Elys by 3m
Final result Elys 1117m, Joe 1116m - leading best score by 20m!!
That's a 1st and 2nd overall for our Year 9 Boys

Ellen Williams and Daisy Faithfull

Heat 3: 985m Daisy (995m in Island)
946m Ellen (912m in Island)

Daisy and Ellen get 1st and 2nd in their heat. Both rowed exceptionally, particularly Ellen who improved a massive 44m and secured 5th(tbc) overall in the competition, Daisy securing 3rd(tbc) overall. They really dug deep, chasing the 1007m distance that was set in heat 1.

Best result of the day so far - well done girls.

Our best rower in the island round rowed 459, so a little off the mark. Will they be able to up their pace for today?
Heat 2: 491m. It's looking tough for our year 7 girls. Our girls are yet to race.
Heat 3: Sophie Atkins and Emily Faithfull get ready to row...
461m Emily Faithfull 1st in her heat, bettering her Island result by 2m
428m Sophie came 4th in her heat, bettering her Island result by 6m
