Reminder: Students in Years 7-10 finish school at 1.30pm on Thursday 26th February

We are changing Parents’ Consultation events to make sure parents get to see more of the teachers.

This is due to the overwhelming feedback from parents at the end of similar events and at our Parents’ Forum.

We recognise and value parental support in helping us to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students.  A key opportunity for feedback and discussion is provided by Parent Consultation events (Parents’ Evenings), staged once a year for each of the seven year groups. To maximise the opportunities to meet with all teachers on these days and to accommodate preferences of parents for appointments earlier in the day, we will be trialling a new format for these meetings for the remainder of the academic year.

Appointment slots will now be offered on one day from 2pm -7.30pm inclusive.

In order to make this happen, school will finish at 1.30pm for students in Years 7-10 on the dates below.

Year 9:                  Thursday 26th February                (Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 going home at 1.30pm)

Year 8:                  Tuesday 17th March                       (Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 going home at 1.30pm)

Year 7:                  Tuesday 21st April                           (Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 going home at 1.30pm)

Year 10:                Thursday 25th June                         (Years 7, 8 and 9 and 10 going home at 1.30pm)

Please also note:

  • Free school meals will still be available at 1.20pm for those entitled.
  • Contract buses will run as normal, collecting children at 3pm. However, a full public bus service will run each day from the end of the Fairway.
  • Any student who is not able to get home, can attend a supervised film viewing in South Hall that afternoon (please let us know in advance if this will be the case).

We will obviously monitor and review this process and welcome feedback. This new approach has been welcomed by the Parents’ Forum, recognising that this provides greater opportunities for parents to access teachers’ advice and guidance.
