Curriculum Focus Day – 10th February

The 10th February is a curriculum focus day where students are off timetable for the day to enable them to take part in activities that enhance and enrich the curriculum but cannot be done as part of a normal school day due to time pressures. The program is individualised to each year groups needs and covers a range of material.

This term's focus day for year 10 is Head On, this is a program designed to show students the dangers of road traffic accidents amongst teenagers and how they can make choices to keep themselves and others safe. The main activity during the day will be based around the Fire Service’s reconstruction of a car crash. During the reconstruction the fire crew will treat the car as a real crash and cut out the students (sixth formers acting for us) trapped inside. Students will also watch a hard hitting video based around the real events of a fatal crash in Whitefield Woods in 2008. This includes footage of the crash scene and the aftermath.

If any parents are concerned about the contents of the video or the day in general there is an opportunity for parents to watch the video and ask questions in a session in our lecture theatre at 4.30pm on Thursday 5th February.

Any questions please contact Mr Apsey at school on 409185 or by e-mail at
