In Year 13, 71 students have now applied to university; we are proud of the diverse range of university and subject choice our Year 13's are aspiring to. With locations from Aberdeen to Plymouth they will be taking the name of Sandown throughout the country and proving the potential of our Island young people in careers from Art, Nursing, Law, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Maths, Physics, Biology, Architecture, Ecology, Marine Biology, Computing, Psychology, English, Economics, Languages, Philosophy, History, Sport, Criminology, Geology and Journalism!

The hard work and dedication of our students, parents and teachers has got the students to this point, and of the 71 students 55 have already received offers, well before the offer deadline of the end of March. 23 of our students are already sitting on offers from the Russell Group universities. These are the top 24 research-intensive, world-class universities in the UK. They have unrivalled links with businesses around the world and are internationally acclaimed. With the University of Oxford coming number 1 in the international university rankings this year and Cambridge 4th we truly are sending our students to some of the best institutions in the world.

A huge congratulations to Juliette Wrixon who received an offer last week from Cambridge University to study Engineering. This is an outstanding achievement.

Of the 55 we have 6 students with unconditional offers, universities only give unconditional offers to students whose applications are of such good quality in terms of their reference, personal statement and preparation for studying that grades become a secondary issue. These students are to be commended for the work the have done attending University Summer Schools, Higher Education events and extending their curriculum with personal study and work experience. All of which have allowed them to write the high quality personal statements needed to secure un-conditional offers.

Congratulations to all our Year 13 on these excellent achievements - now they need to work hard to secure the grades required!
