posted 4 Dec 2014, 06:55 by Karen Bricknell   [ updated 4 Dec 2014, 06:58 ]

The Year 9 Curriculum Focus day on Thursday 11th December is ‘Healthy Body: Healthy Mind.’

The day involves a carousel of activities including E-safety, Body Confidence, Team Work, Positively Mad and a range of sports activities. Some students will attend a session on Sexual Health focusing on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs); this session will be delivered by our PSHE Co-ordinator and a Health Visitor from Sandown Medical Centre (students who do not attend the session on 11th December will attend at a later date as part of a rolling PSHE programme).

The aim of the session will be to inform students about:

·      -   the facts and risks of STIs and knowing the law on the legal age for sexual activity

·      -   learn how STIs can be spread

·      -   explore ways to prevent the spread of STI and where help and information is available

If you have any concerns or queries about your child attending this session or you would like more details about the content that will be covered then please do not hesitate to contact us. Our PSHE co-ordinator will be happy to speak to you, alternatively you can attend our Parent Forum meeting on Tuesday 9th December, 5.30-7pm where this will be discussed.
