Year 9 Options - An Update

posted 26 Jun 2018, 07:15 by Katrina Heather
Please see below communications from Mr Cousins, Head of School from September in relation to the Year 9 Options process:

I feel it appropriate to write to you and provide a clear update as regards to our Year 9 into 10 options process.  I am sure that you understand that we needed to extend the process to ensure the students received further advice and guidance.  As the new Head of School for September it is vital that I was given an opportunity to review the choices that students had provisionally selected before they were confirmed.

The most important consideration is making sure that student choices are personalised to fit their interests, needs and give them the best chance for individual success in achieving positive outcomes.

Over recent weeks a number of students have met with members of the Leadership Team to support this process.  Last week I came into school and met with over 50 students myself. I would like to say what a pleasure it was to have this opportunity to speak with our students and I was very encouraged when many were able to share with me the guidance and support that they had received through discussion at home.

I am delighted to say that I have completed my analysis of the options process and that we can release this information to you.  The next two years of education are so important and will conclude with The Key Stage 4 External Examinations.  I will do everything within my power to ensure that your child receives the high quality education that they deserve.  The education that we will provide will support them in achieving the best outcomes that they are capable of. All students are equally important to me and I am excited as regards to the potential within this year group.  If you do require any further guidance then please contact the school.

I very much look forward to meeting you all in person and further information will be shared about parent forum meetings that Mr Mills, Executive Headteacher, and myself will jointly host.

Thank you once again for your understanding and support with the options process.
