We have had another great week here at the Academy filled with a variety of events; we started the week off in good spirits after last week’s year 7 welcome BBQ. A big thank you to all who came along and to the staff who helped to make it such a fun event.

On Tuesday, the Global Rock auditions took place. The cast list has now been published and can be found on our facebook page. We are really looking forward to showcasing the amazing talent that we have at Sandown Bay in dance, costume design, set production and sound/light engineering. It promises to be a great experience for all involved.

Year 8’s enjoyed their first Inter-House competition this week. Congratulations to Red House who won this week. Next week’s Inter House competition is Year 9 netball and football. The extra-curricular programme is on our website (click here), please encourage your children to take part in as many clubs and study support sessions as possible.

On Thursday we were very excited to welcome the National Jazz Orchestra into the school to perform to students. It was great to see the students enthralled in music which they may not have heard of before.

A quick reminder every year we take photographs of students in Years 7, 9, 11 and 12. Atlas Images are coming in to take the photographs on Monday 2nd October. More information can be found in the newsletter.

And finally, as part of our initiative to improve standards across the school, we will be focusing on behaviour. You will have received a text message asking you to take a few moments to familiarise yourself with the sanctions that will be implemented as from Monday in respect of poor behaviour. If you would like to view a copy of the letter, please click here. I would personally like to thank you for your continued support in working with us to raise the standards here at Sandown Bay.
