Principal's Blog - Friday 27th May

Students in Year 11 and Sixth Form have continued to impress me this week with their effort and enthusiasm towards their exams. Keep it up, and please make the most of the revision and support sessions that are taking place over half term (click here to view the schedule). I look forward to celebrating with the students at the Year 11 Prom tonight.

I was wowed at the Dance Show on Wednesday night, the dancers were incredible and to think that the whole show was planned and organised by our Sixth Form students makes it all the more impressive.

Congratulations to ex Sandown student Jess Andrews who qualified for the Rio Olympics last weekend after winning the 10,000 metre GB trials.  There was a real buzz of excitement around the academy this week from staff who used to teach Jess Andrews and from students who look up to her as a role model. She epitomises the growth mind-set we promote at Sandown Bay Academy, her hard work, positive attitude and enthusiasm has paid off and we look forward to following her Olympic journey.

Enjoy your half term.
