Principal's Blog - Friday 10th February

posted 10 Feb 2017, 05:52 by Karen Bricknell

Congratulations to the following tutor groups for having the best attendance up until the end of January.

Year 7 - 7GNWA

Year 8 - 8BJMP

Year 9 - 9GTWG

Year 10 - 10BIMM

Year 11 - 11YJHP

They were rewarded with a pizza lunch this week with their tutor and tutor group to say well done. There will be a pizza lunch on offer next term too as an incentive to improve attendance.

Each week students are nominated by their teachers to come and have a hot chocolate with me on a  Friday break time. Today I was delighted that we had over 60 nominations for a wide range of reasons including, excellent homework, great improvements in subjects, for participation in house activities and for producing fantastic work. It is lovely for these students to receive recognition and praise.

Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 students who represented the Academy in the Isle of Wight Schools Cross Country Championships this week. The students ran their hearts out and there were some great team results. In the individual results 3 of our Year 7 students qualified to represent the Isle of Wight in the Hampshire Schools Championships next month, well done to Dan Drudge, Charlie Lord and Lauren Clark.

Congratulations to the girls’ football teams who both beat Cowes Enterprise College this week. The U13’s won 10-0 and the U15’s won 3-1.

Year 11 PPE exams take place the week after half term. Please encourage your children to do as much revision as possible during the next two weeks, GCSE Pod is an excellent online resource I would recommend. You can view the timetable for the PPE exams and the half term revision sessions on our website (click here).

Friday 17th February is Yellow House Mufti Day.

Enjoy your weekend
