All at Sandown Bay Academy offer condolences to Kiri-Jade Hodgkinson's family after the terrible accident last week. Our thoughts are with all the families affected.

Kiri-Jade had hopes and dreams for the future and her friendships were underpinned with true loyalty, understanding and a smile. She was a vibrant and popular member of the school community. She had an infectious personality and a great sense of humour. What a sad loss, we will miss her.

Our thoughts are also with Georgina, year 9 and Jack, a former student who are recovering from serious injuries in hospital.

The tragic events of last Thursday have obviously had a significant impact on the mood in the academy and I would like to congratulate our students and staff for continuing to focus on learning whilst upset.

We have also had to battle with disruptions to transport, well done to all of our students who use the trains or who have had buses diverted. They have done well because attendance has been strong, let’s keep it up.

To do well in school students do have to attend every day but the effort is worth it. This week we congratulate two of our sixth form students, Dylan Boyd and Jordan Strobach-Morris on their conditional offers from Oxford University. This is a result of hard work over a number of years and others can take inspirations as they prepare for exams next week.
