Principal's Blog - Friday 12th February

posted 12 Feb 2016, 03:39 by Karen Bricknell   [ updated 12 Feb 2016, 03:47 ]

I was delighted to accompany some members of our debate club to The Quay Arts Centre on Wednesday evening where we watched the 2016 Youth Speaks competition. They were inspired watching the teams from other island schools and feel confident to enter next year. When summing up the competition Anna Morgan-Crockett from Cowes Rotary Club said,

"The ability to speak in front of an audience is the most important thing a school can teach young people.”

I agree with Anna, and would encourage more students to come along to debate club on a Wednesday lunch time in the meeting rooms.

I was incredibly impressed with the cupcakes made by Max in Year 10 this week. He brought me two to try after he baked them and decorated them in his Catering lesson.

It has been great to see students getting on board and supporting the Green House charity today ‘Macmillan Cancer Support.’

Year 11 students please attend as many revision and support sessions as possible over half term, exams are fast approaching and every session attended will make a difference (click here to view the schedule).

A reminder that changes to our online system have allowed appointments to be made from 3.30-7.30pm for Year 8 Parent Consultations on Wednesday 24th February; this will allow for a normal school day for all students.

Enjoy your half term
