Following the recent publishing of the recent Ofsted report, please click here to read my letter to parents.

On Tuesday students in all year groups were off timetable taking part in Challenge and Achievement day. There were a whole range of diverse activities taking place including:

Inter tutor activities, drug awareness workshops, off-site trips to Laserquest and Superbowl, PSHE workshops, drug awareness workshops, UCAS workshops and support for students attending Russell group universities. Year 10 students took part in ‘Head-on’, a hard hitting demonstration run by the fire service about road safety.

Congratulations to the following tutor groups who have the best attendance this term: 7BAMT, 8YDSF, 9BNOS and 10YCWH. They were awarded for their attendance with a pizza lunch. Well done to all of these students; keep up the good attendance. We now need all students to strive for better attendance.

Last week a group of Year 10 students had a fantastic time at the Up 4 Uni three day residential trip at Portsmouth University. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with one saying ‘it was one of the best experiences I have ever had.’ The event included information about support and student loans as well as subject specific workshops to give students a taster of university life. They also got to experience the social side of university with a BBQ and a disco. The residential ended with a graduation ceremony which families could attend.

There was a great turn out for Blue House Quiz on Wednesday evening, thank you to everyone who took part. along with mufti day to raise money for Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust. Well done to the winning staff and student teams.

Congratulations to the Year 8 cricket team who became league champions last night after beating Sandown Bay Academy. This tops off a great summer, with the Year 7, Year 8 and Year 10 teams all becoming IOW league champions.

Our tennis ambassadors had a great day at Wimbledon on Thursday, they had tickets to watch games on Court 1. This was a reward for all the hard work they have put in during their roles as tennis ambassadors this year.
