Principal's Blog - Friday 15th May

posted 15 May 2015, 04:06 by Karen Bricknell

Exam season is well under way and I have been impressed with the behaviour and attitudes of students taking their exams this week. We hope to see lots of Year 10 parents at the consultation event on Wednesday 20th May so we can work with parents and students to ensure they are as prepared as possible when they enter Year 11. There is a letter on our website detailing the arrangements for this day (click here); students in Years 7-10 will finish school at 1pm. Thank you in advance for your support in allowing the trial of the new format of Parent Consultation.

Students involved in the STEM Hovercraft project showcased the Hovercraft they have built to other secondary schools this week. They have done a fantastic job at designing and building a working hovercraft with their mentor from Red Funnel.

Fiona Noone, one of Red Funnel’s Chief Officers came in this week to give an inspirational and motivational talk to a selection of Year 8 girls.  She talked to them about how important it is to be aspirational and to aim high.

There was a great turnout for Year 10 Inter House ‘Capture the Flag’ competition this week, well done to the winners, Blue House.

More sporting successes this week with the U15 cricket team beating Carisbrooke College by 6 runs. The U13 girls’ rugby team were runners up in a tournament against 9 other teams on Wednesday and the U19 and U16 Rounders teams came runners up and 4th place respectively in the Isle of Wight Schools Tournament.

Enjoy your weekend.
