Principal's Blog - Friday 16th January

posted 16 Jan 2015, 07:41 by Karen Bricknell

It was great to see so many students from all year groups competing alongside staff in the Inter House rowing competition on Wednesday. The atmosphere was buzzing, with lots of cheering and encouragement. Next week’s Inter House events are Year 10 table tennis and badminton on Wednesday and Bake Off on Thursday. I would encourage as many students as possible to get involved.

I was pleased to hear that our Year 13 students have had lots of offers back from top universities already. A total of 138 offers have gone out and 13 students have already received offers from all the 5 universities they applied to.  Almost 90% of students in Year 13 have applied to university. Most of the students who have not applied are taking a gap year or applying for high-level apprenticeships or non-university courses e.g. Performing Arts schools. We are very proud of the progression of our Sixth Form students and in the last
2 years 1 in 3 students progressed to Russell Group universities.

I am sure that many of our Year 11 students have high aspirations to go to top universities in a couple of years. Thank you to parents who came in to the Parents’ Evening last night, it is good to have your support in encouraging students to do their best and ensure they get exam results with will help them to realise their future ambitions.

Enjoy your weekend.
