Principal's blog - Friday 16th May

Year 11 are really stepping up. I have been impressed this week with their behaviour and commitment. They have been attending workshops and revision sessions and showing maturity towards their studies; focussed on making their best better. I know this because I have invited a number to lunch and they have been really complimentary about the support they are receiving from staff in these final days.  Exam invigilators have also been impressed with their behaviour in the exam halls. Letters are on their way home to those with targeted revision sessions over the half term break, please encourage your sons and daughters, grand children, brothers and sisters to attend and grab these opportunities. So next week is another hard week of work followed by the Year 11 Prom on Friday.

It was lovely to meet so many Year 7 parents at parents’ evening last night and to hear how well their children have settled into life at Sandown Bay Academy and that they really are making the most of all the opportunities available to them. I look forward to welcoming Year 6 students and parents who are coming up to the Academy for transition events next week. I am sure our current Year 7 students will be wonderful ‘buddies’ when they meet and greet the new students and show them around the academy.  It is always great to see so many of our students volunteering to help at these events; they are fine ambassadors of Sandown Bay Academy.
