Principal's Blog - Friday 16th September

posted 16 Sep 2016, 04:48 by Karen Bricknell

I have been very impressed with the way that students have settled in their first full week back at the Academy. On the whole their behaviour and attitudes have lived up to the high expectations set by teachers. I have also been very impressed with uniform so please keep it up.

Students have enjoyed the improvements around campus, after they got over the initial shock of the mobiles vanishing! Our site team worked incredibly hard over the summer months to complete all of the work. We are now looking forward to working with a renowned architectural and landscaping company to design the new quad area in the middle of the campus. If your child is a budding architect or has ambitions to go into landscaping, please watch this space for further details.

Now that students have settled into their school routine, we will be increasing our expectations of homework. Please help to support us in this by checking in with your child(ren) to ensure they are keeping on top of their homework. You can check what has been set by using 'Show my Homework'. If you need a reminder of your login details, please check in with your child’s Year Manager.

Congratulations to all Year 7 students who took part in the first interhouse activity this week. Please get involved in as many interhouse competitions and extra-curricular activities as possible; there are some fantastic opportunities to take part in (click here to view the extra-curricular programme).

Thank you to the students and parents who came along to the Welcome Events this week. If you were unable to attend then you can view the information from the evenings on our website under the ‘Parents’ tab. There is also a parent surgery every Wednesday from 3-4pm with Mrs Walters. No appointment is necessary, so if you have a query or concern please do pop along to see her.

Enjoy your weekend
