Principal's Blog - Friday 17th February

posted 17 Feb 2017, 04:54 by Karen Bricknell

We were delighted to welcome UKSA into the Academy yesterday, they attended Year 11 assembly to present us with the 'NCS School Champions Award.' National Citizen Service is 2-4 week programme which takes place outside of term time in the spring, summer and autumn holidays. It involves adventure, discovery, social action and finally a graduation ceremony.

Sandown Bay Academy received the award because we were the highest achieving school for NCS on the Island in Summer 2016, both in terms of signing up to and completing the programme. The award is the first and only School Champion award that has been given on the Isle of Wight and one of only three across the Hampshire region. Year 11 students were given forms to sign up for this summer’s NCS Programme. It is a fantastic, life changing programme and costs just £35.00 for 4 weeks. The Academy can support you with this fee if you are experiencing financial hardship.

There are a number of revision and study support sessions taking place on Monday and Tuesday during half term. Please encourage your children to come along (click here to view the schedule). The Year 11 PPE exams start the w/c 27th February so lots of hard work and study is required over half term.

Have a restful and enjoyable half term
