Principal's Blog - Friday 19th September

posted 19 Sep 2014, 05:29 by Karen Bricknell

Our football teams have started the year as they mean to go on, with lots of wins this week. The Year 7’s beat Medina 2-1, the Year 8’s beat medina 7-1, the Year 9’s drew with Medina 2-2 and the Year 11's won 7-0.

I have been very pleased to see how many students have been making the most of all of the extra-curricular opportunities this week. Students at SBA thrive through taking advantage of the many opportunities on offer; whether these are music clubs, Duke of Edinburgh, Inter House competitions, sports clubs or after-school study support sessions, we have a dedicated team of staff who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that students have the best opportunities to enhance and compliment their academic education. I doubt if many schools in the country can match the opportunities available at Sandown Bay Academy (click here for the list).

We are working hard to improve our Academy site; lots of work has been done and lots is underway. I want students to be proud of their Academy and to be happy in their learning environment. With the refurbishment of South Hall, we are proud to announce that the school Production of 'Bring It On' will be performed on site this year. I hope to see many students at the workshop and auditions next week, let’s make this the biggest production Sandown has ever seen.

I have seen some really great lessons while around the site this week. Students are engaged and really showing positive attitudes. Year 7 students have settled in really well and are talking with great enthusiasm about their first 2 weeks at Sandown Bay Academy. They are enjoying being challenged and pushed in lessons and taking part in lots of practical activities. Parkour club seems particularly popular and students like being part of the House system.

Enjoy your weekend.

Eric Jackson.

We are always interested in the feedback of parents and carers, we would be extremely grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the online parent survey - click here.
