Principal's Blog - Friday 1st May

posted 1 May 2015, 07:17 by Karen Bricknell

I am glad the sun has been out for most of the week so our Spanish Exchange students have got to experience how beautiful the Isle of Wight is. The students have enjoyed meeting their host families, coming into the academy for lessons and also seeing some of the sights of the Isle of Wight. They had an inspiring day visiting the sights of London seeing the capital, Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guards and Trafalgar Square. Our students will go to Alicante during the first week of June where they will go into the Spanish school and take part in lots of activities that will improve and enhance their Spanish skills.

Year 7 and 8 students have faced lots of challenges on the Trewern trip this week; not just with the adventurous activities (gorge walking, canoeing, BMX cycling, climbing, abseiling, and caving) but by having to lay tables, dish up food, wash up and share a room with 7 others. They have learnt lots of new skills and overcome lots of fears. Well done, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Well done to all the students who took part in the Junior Maths Challenge this week. I look forward to finding out how you all got on.

Next week is the first SBA Literary Festival; we have authors, poets and a variety of exciting external speakers in to speak to students.

Enjoy your bank holiday weekend. Year 11 students, use the long weekend to do lots of revision ready for the start of the exams next week.
