Principal's Blog - Friday 22nd April

posted 22 Apr 2016, 07:48 by Karen Bricknell   [ updated 22 Apr 2016, 07:50 ]

Students from Years 8-10 enjoyed an STEM Go4Set day at Southampton Oceanography Centre this week. The day was focussed on engineering and set students a number of challenges, including building a tower to hold a golf ball out of spaghetti and jelly babies.

I watched the Performing Arts Variety Night on Wednesday in amazement, our students are awesome! What an incredible show they put on with students from across all age groups and showcasing talent in Dance, Drama and Music.

It was great to see so many students at Year 7 Inter House Capture the Flag competition this week. Next week is the Year 8 competition; it is taking place on Thursday due to Year 7 Parents’ Evening on Wednesday.

Today we said goodbye to the Thai students who have been with us for the last two weeks. It was an emotional farewell as true friendships had been formed. The experience has been incredibly beneficial for our students as well as the Thai students.  We are extremely proud of the SBA students who have been fantastic buddies and welcomed the visitors so warmly to our school community.

Next Friday is Blue House Mufti-day to raise money for Isle of Wight Independent Lifeboats and the SBA Hardship Fund. Students are asked to wear something blue, bring in £1 and/or an item of food for the food bank.

A last reminder to please take 10 minutes to complete our parent survey (click here).  So far we have only had 170 responses and your feedback is really valuable to us.

Enjoy your weekend.
