Principal's Blog - Friday 23rd January

It has been another busy week of Inter house this week with Year 10 Table Tennis on Wednesday and Bake off on Thursday. Both events were full of friendly competitive spirit and it is always pleasure to see students getting into the Inter house spirit.

Congratulations to the students who braved the freezing weather and mud over the weekend completing a Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition, rather you than me! We also had 2 ex-students; Jordan Strobach-Morris and Alisdair Malcolm collect their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex at St James’ Palace last week.

More of our students braved the cold and the mud at the weekend representing the Island at the Hampshire Cross Country championships. Well done to everyone who took part, particularly Joe Evan-Murray in Year 12 who has been selected to represent Hampshire at the Southern Counties Championships at the end of the month.

The Year 7 girls’ football team are now ranked in the top 4 teams in the South of England after getting through to the semi-final of the Southern tournament on Thursday, well done girls.

Tuesday 27th January is our Sixth Form Open Evening. I hope to see lots of students and parents come along and see the real strength of our academy. Come along and find out why our Sixth Form is rated in the top 25% of all Sixth Forms in the Country. Meet our staff and students and find out about joining a Sixth Form that has a strong record of A Level results and progression to top universities and employers.

Enjoy your weekend.
