Principal's Blog - Friday 24th October

posted 24 Oct 2014, 02:29 by Karen Bricknell

The mood amongst staff and students in the Academy following the successful Ofsted inspection last week has been uplifting. This week has not been a wind down week by any means!

Our anti-bullying ambassadors attended an anti-bullying conference on Wednesday; they delivered an excellent presentation to other island schools and represented the academy impeccably.

Students enjoyed the first ‘Curriculum focus day’ on Wednesday. They were off timetable taking part in a huge range of activities including; targeted revision and support sessions, orienteering in Parkhurst Forest, Headhunters, Crime Scene Investigate (CSI), Engineering, Wonderstruck workshops, sports activities, ‘Positively Mad’ study workshops, team building sessions, business breakfast, survival cookery, UCAS workshops and newspaper production.

Sixth form students attended a high calibre careers fair in London and networked with top companies.

Year 7 students have settled into the academy really well and have made a great contribution to the academy during the first half term. There was a celebration assembly this week to recognise their brilliant start to SBA, well done Year 7 students and a special well done to Aimee Stembridge, Rachel Roberts, Alfie Amey, Toby Craig, Alisha Chapman, Neve Rust, Sophie Burton, Ellie Ahronson, Maries Sharp and Tobias Toone who all achieved outstanding attitude to learning in eight of their subject areas in the recent tracking.

Have a great half term.
