I have been welcoming back students after their Easter break, ready for another busy term and laying out my expectations on the next stage of our journey to success. I was delighted to hear that 212 Year 11 students came in for revision sessions and study support during the Easter holidays. This is very encouraging; it is important that they keep this motivation and enthusiasm strong in the run up to their final GCSE exams. Applications for 6th form are also exceptionally strong this year.

Congratulations to the 72 students who were fantastic when showcasing their Global Rock routine on Tuesday at Portsmouth Guildhall. They won Awards for Excellence in Entertainment, Soundtrack, Costuming Character, Performance Skill and Lighting. Global Rock is student led and provides a great opportunity for pupils across all year groups to work together. The staff accompanying the students said they were excellent ambassadors for the academy and their behaviour was impeccable. They will now continue rehearsals to perfect the performance when they compete on 21st June.

7 of our Year 9 students took part in the Isle of Wight U14 Football Festival over the Easter holidays, competing against teams from all over the Country. The squad was selected from the best players from all schools across the Island; of the squad of 16 players 7 were from Sandown Bay Academy. They had an exceptional week and all goals from the Isle of Wight team were scored by Sandown Bay Academy students. I was proud to hear feedback that all of the players’ attitudes, behaviour and performance were exceptional during the entire week, both on and off the football field.
