Congratulations to the 28 sixth form students who took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge earlier this month. The results are now in and Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates were awarded to the highest achieving participants. Half of our participants achieved certificates. 2 students achieved Gold and have been invited to take part in the Senior Kangaroo; George Willis and Sophie Swallow. Silver Certificates have been awarded to Imogen Smith, Chris Taylor, James Diamond, Daisy Faithfull and Alex Tuskin-James. Bronze Certificates have been awarded to Dean Salter, Oscar Pusey, Juliette Wrixon, George Lawrence, Alex Cleasby, Tom Lawrence, and Shravani Chaddah. Students who are interested in taking part in the junior or intermediate Maths Challenge competitions should speak to their Maths teacher.

Year 11 students have made an excellent start to their mock exams this week. Keep studying hard and don’t forget about the revision pods on GCSE Pod.

Thank you to Year 9 parents who came came along for Parent Consultations last night, I hope you found it useful, particularly when Year 9 students will be starting to think about options choices for next year.

Congratulations to Scarlett Harding in Year 7 who is the winner of the Year 7 Art competition to design a Christmas card. Her excellent winning design is very eye catching. You can see Scarlet’s design along with the runner up designs on our Facebook page.

We welcomed over 120 Year 5 students from our local primary schools into the Academy this week to take part in taster days for Performing Arts, Technology, Maths and Art.

Congratulations to the Year 7 football team who won the Isle of Wight Schools boys indoor football tournament last night. They beat Christ the King 3-1 in the final and will now represent the island in the southern region tournament after Christmas.

Enjoy your weekend
