It was great that so many parents attended the Year 9 Options Evening last night. Students were very engaged and asking the pertinent questions as they decide which courses to take at Key Stage 4. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further support with the options process.

We have been delighted to welcome students and staff from Sant Quirze School, Barcelona to the Academy this week. Their visit is part of the Erasmus project and SBA students will be taking part in visits to our partner schools in several European countries later this year. The Erasmus project is a collaboration with European schools to work on a project on climate change and sustainability. The Spanish students, along with SBA students took part in a wide range of activities including researching the efficiency of transport on the island. Well done to Mrs Adams, Ms Flanagan and Ms Jones for their hard work in organising this fantastic opportunity for our students.

Congratulations to Jade Thomas in Year 13 who has recently completed her induction training with Independent Arts. Jade attended training to gain more experience in how to support people, especially those with dementia. Jade will be meeting clients and working with them in local care homes to encourage memory and creative skills. Many of our students and staff know that Jade is known for 'Jade's Beads' and is a very creative young lady. Jade showed great initiative and created a 'magic key' to memories. Kerry and the team at Independent Arts were delighted to be presented with the magic key last week. It will be used as an aid in many sessions with individuals and groups across the Island as it is a bright, imaginative, sensory object, covered in mini ladybirds, shells, spirals, keys, letters and other attractive shapes; it will provoke many memories and conversations.

Our Y7 boys football team won their match against Medina College 9-0 yesterday and became Isle of Wight Schools League champions. Huge congratulations to them on this fantastic achievement! We are incredibly proud of them and delighted to see their hard work pay off. Well done to Mr Bricknell for his excellent work with the boys.

Enjoy your weekend
