I am sure many of you have picked up from the Media and from our website that our latest Ofsted section 8 monitoring visit report has been published. The report is very encouraging and highlights many improvements across the academy. Staff, pupils and parents have worked hard to secure these improvements and we need to continue to drive this forward and focus on making our best better and so thank you to all.

I was pleased to hear there were no broken bones on the ski trip to Austria over half term. The teachers accompanying the students said that that they behaved impeccably and were an absolute pleasure to be around. I must check with the students that the adults also behaved!

Students have returned from half term and settled well into another busy week in the Academy. Attendance has bounced back up, it dipped during the last few days before the holiday – we must now keep it high. There is a lot happening here and a lot to look forward to.

I felt a real sense of pride watching the fantastic performances during ‘Sandown’s got talent’ on Wednesday evening. Our students showcased a range of talents and wowed the audience.  I think it was the sheer range of performance that struck me together within the outstanding support that the audience gave every act. Much better than anything that I have seen previously.
