It was lovely to meet lots of you at the Year 9 Parent Consultations last Thursday. Thank you for taking the time to complete the Parent Survey. 100% of parents who attended the Parent Consultations said it was clear how their child could improve following discussions with teachers. 98% said they agreed or strongly agreed that their child is well looked after and well taught at the school and 98% said that they would recommend the school to another parent.  We are always keen to gather feedback from parents so please take a couple of minutes to complete a parent survey (click here). If you leave your name and child’s name you will be entered into a draw for a £25.00 Love to Shop Voucher (this can be spent in over 20,000 shops and restaurants).

Andrew Turner, MP and Councillor Dave Stewart visited the Academy this morning, it was great to walk them around our Academy and let them see the range of exciting and engaging lessons taking place.

We have had another successful sporting week with the Year 7 girls’ football team becoming Isle of Wight indoor champions and the Year 8 boys’ football team beating Medina 14-1. I am so proud of their team spirit and their excellent start to Sandown Bay Academy.

Friday 9th December is mufti day for students. Money raised goes towards Save the Children and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Students in Year 11 have been working hard to organise a series of fundraising activities as part of their Citizenship coursework. Some of the money raised on mufti day will go towards Great Ormond Street Hospital, one of their chosen charities.  We are encouraging students to wear a Christmas jumper but if they don’t already have one, mufti with a festive theme is fine.

There are lots of structured activities planned to celebrate the holidays but it is business as usual in lessons right up until the last day of term. Students will finish at 1pm on Friday 16th December, school buses will depart from school at 1.10pm.

Enjoy your weekend
