This week was another very busy week in the Academy where students have been embracing the many opportunities on offer to them.  Having now worked at Sandown for a complete term I have come to realise that every week is jam-packed full of opportunities.

On Monday it was great to see the 170 stars who have been part of our dominating sports teams this year get together for a group photograph; other schools just cannot compete with SBA!  Look out in the County Press for an article over Easter celebrating their brilliance.

There were more sporting successes this week; the U13 girls’ cricket team competed in the Regional Indoor cricket finals in Bristol on Thursday and came sixth, this is a fantastic result. The U15 girls’ cricket team became County champions yesterday. The Year 9 boys’ football team became Island league champions and the Year 11 boys' football team narrowly missed out on taking the title in their age group.

51 students took part in a Duke of Edinburgh expedition last weekend, Mr Apsey said that they showed fantastic resilience, independence and teamwork in completing the challenge of the two day hike and 1 night camp.

Our musicians have been showcasing their talents this week; at a concert with other secondary schools earlier this week and at the Summer Soirée show last night.  I was wowed by the eclectic mix of rock, pop, classical, from Bastille to Bartok, Mozart to Mumford and Sons. The talent we have in this Academy is really something to be proud of.

I hope you all have a restful Easter break. Year 11 and Sixth form students, please take advantage of the revision and catch up opportunities that are being laid on by staff, a lot of thinking has gone in to this.  I now look forward to welcoming everyone back after Easter and ready to take Sandown Bay to the next stage in our journey to success.
