We were delighted to receive a telephone call from a member of the public to report that four of our Year 10 students were excellent citizens this week. On the way home from school they saw an elderly man on the floor and ran to help him. They called an ambulance and stayed with him until help arrived. The man’s family are very grateful for everything they did and are pleased to say that he is on the mend and hopes to be out of hospital soon. Well done to Alfie Kennett, Charlie Fuller, Tom Webster and Ollie Francis. We are very proud of you
I have been into assemblies this week to share with students some of our most recent successes, including Global Rock, winning sports events, recent trips, rewards for attendance to name just a few. I asked for student volunteers to get involved with two projects we will be running shortly. The first is a review of the Academy’s code of conduct and the second is to help design our green space at the centre of the campus.
Congratulations to the U15 girls’ football team who won the double this week - they were crowned Isle of Wight league and Isle of Wight 6-a-side champions.
The U13 girls cricket team made their debut performance this week in their first league match as a newly formed team. They scored 101 runs but sadly were caught by Medina who scored 103. Our experienced U15 girls team however maintained their strength and managed to beat Medina.
Since they started in November as ‘Wightbright’ our Young Enterprise team have designed and manufactured products to sell at events and are now moving into events management. They are organising ‘Battle of the Bands’ to showcase young Island musical talent. The event is taking place in South Hall on Thursday 23rd March, tickets are available from reception.
Enjoy your weekend
