Principal's Blog Friday 3rd February

It was lovely to see so many parents, carers and students at Year 10 Parents’ Evening last night. We encourage students in Year 10 to get a head start on their preparation for GCSEs by making good use of the GCSE Pod (click here).

Students in Year 11 have been proactive in taking advantage of the many revision opportunities available to them and we have been pleased to see their efforts. Their next set of mocks, the PPE exams, take place the week of 27th February. Keep up the good work Year 11, it will all be worth it when you get your exam results!

Congratulations to the 40 students who took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge this week. I am sure we will have some great results as we did in the Senior Maths Challenge last term.

Students will be taking place in activities during tutor time next week to raise their awareness of Internet safety. Safer Internet Day is Tuesday 7th February. As parents and carers you can help to create a better internet by maintaining an open and honest dialogue with your children about their online lives, by supporting them with their personal development online and helping them to deal with any concerns or issues, seeking out positive opportunities to engage with your children online, and helping them to find and use good quality digital resources. Click here to find additional information and support or parents.

Students have had an excellent and educational time on the ski trip and have been superb representatives of Sandown Bay Academy with their impeccable behaviour. They have all learned a great deal from improving their skiing to linguistic and cultural development. We look forward to welcoming them back to school next week.

Advanced Progresso Implementation

Our new student information database management system, Advanced Progresso, is now in place and once staff training has taken place we will be able to start the process of sending out progress reports for students. We appreciate your patience; the new system is being rolled out across all AET academies and has therefore taken somewhat longer than we would have hoped.

Enjoy your weekend
