Thank you to all of the students and their families who came along to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday. It was lovely to hear our Sixth Form students talking so proudly about why Sandown is a great choice for Sixth Form. It was also pleasing to hear that so many of our Year 11 students have high aspirations for post-16 and beyond. Hard work over the next few months is vital to secure good GCSE results that will open the door to many opportunities in the future.  Please let us know if you are wanting any further information in the run up to GCSE results.

Many SBA students headed to London on Thursday; a group of performing arts students enjoyed a theatre trip to see Billy Elliott and a group of Gifted and Talented Geographers went to the Royal Geographical Society to view an amazing exhibition ‘Sounds of Antarctica’ and then on to the Science Museum to find out about climate change.

More Sandown sporting success this week with the indoor rowing team winning the Island Championships by 41 points, they dominated the whole competition, well done to everyone who took part.

I am pleased to confirm that Sandown Bay Academy continues to improve, and that is official.  Ofsted revisited us on Monday 19th January, earlier than I expected, and checked our progress since the October full inspection.  The report will be published in the next few days, it is very strong.

Look out for the Global Rock students bag packing in Morrison’s this weekend. Dig deep to support their fundraising.
