“I am committed to improving the awareness and support of student wellbeing across the school”. Rachael

“ I want to make sure that all year 7s feel comfortable at Sandown and know where they can get help or support when they need it. I also want to make sure we start early next year and help the year 6’s more”. Leo

Introducing the Head Boy/ Head Girl Team

From left to right: Daisy Faithful (Deputy Head Girl), Oliver Niemic (Deputy Head Boy), Andrew Swallow (Head Boy), Molly Ellis (Head Girl).

Andrew is studying French, Sociology and Drama. He intends on studying French at University, when asked about his ambition, he explained that he has “always had a love of languages in an every diversifying society, language is so important and I hope to promote it throughout the lower years in the school”. Andrew is also a keen rugby player and can regularly seen on stage in and out of school; “I have parts in the school production and in Global Rock, I’m also part of the South Wight Youth Theatre”.

Andrew is keen to encourage years 12 and 13 to work together and create a community feel between the two year groups.

Molly is studying Geography, Sport and Sociology. Her ambition is to get into Adult Nursing. Outside of studies she enjoys keeping fit at the gym and socialising but admits that she is either at work or studying hard most of the time! Molly is also keen to head up fundraisers and organise social events.

Oliver is studying Biology, Business, Geography and Finance. His ambition is to move into a career within the financial sector. He enjoys playing cricket and golf. When asked how he would like to make a difference in his role he said, he would like to reach out to the lower school by “working towards the re-introduction of the wide range of sports “, that he took part in when he was in KS3 and KS4.

Daisy is studying maths, chemistry and biology as well as studying further maths at AS level. Her plans are to study Maths at university and see where it leads. She is a keen sportswoman, and as well as representing Shanklin Rowing Club, she plays a key part in sports at Sandown Bay. She “hopes to bring skills in teamwork and communication” from her sporting life to inspire students from the lower school and campaign for more sports to be re-introduced. She is excited by the launch of the High Performance Academy and hopes that the lower school will be given the same opportunities as she was a few years back.
